“In mijn carrière als orthopedisch chirurg heb ik mij gespecialiseerd in knietrauma bij sporters. Dit houdt in dat ik veel sporters heb geopereerd met knieband-, meniscus- of kraakbeenletsel. Het mooiste is om terug te horen dat iemand na maanden intensieve fysiotherapie weer terugkeert in de sport! Het samenwerken met de fysiotherapeut is dan ook erg belangrijk.
Daarnaast wil ik graag actieve ouderen in beweging houden. Het vervangen van de knie door middel van een knieprothese is vaak een dankbare operatie, waardoor mensen weer hun bewegingsvrijheid terugkrijgen. De knie prothesiologie is daarmee mijn tweede passie.”
